Investigation Overview
Investigation Summary
R-019 was first accessed during Year 4, Cycle 2 of ALR Initiative operations. The investigation was initiated following the detection of anomalous atmospheric readings consistent with a post-collapse environment. The reality was assigned a Divergent classification under the Reality Divergence Scale (RDS) due to significant deviations in its biological and ecological systems from baseline human reality.
The investigation at R-019 remains ongoing. The site has been revisited on multiple occasions and continues to serve as an active research environment due to the presence of ECHO-047 — A Hollow Bloom.
Environmental Observations
Environmental Survey
R-019 presents as a mid-scale urban environment of unknown municipal function. The site is fully abandoned. Buildings are structurally intact and infrastructure is present but inoperative. No weather system activity has been recorded within the site’s atmospheric boundary.
The sky above R-019 is uniformly overcast and static. Cloud formation has not changed across any recorded observation period. Seasonal indicators are absent. No organic life has been catalogued on-site with the exception of the anomalous bloom phenomenon documented as ECHO-047 — A Hollow Bloom.
Ambient sound levels within the site fall measurably below baseline environmental noise during bloom events. Outside of these events the environment remains deeply and consistently quiet. Audio monitoring has not recorded any sound originating from within the site that cannot be attributed to investigation personnel or equipment.
Civilizational Status
Population Condition
No surviving population has been identified at R-019. The urban environment suggests the reality once supported a developed civilization, however no remains, records, or biological material attributable to the former inhabitants have been recovered.
The absence of any physical trace of the population is considered one of the most anomalous characteristics of R-019. Structures are intact. Infrastructure is in place. The civilization that built this environment left nothing of itself behind except the buildings it occupied.
Echo Manifestations
Documented Echoes
The following Echo phenomenon has been documented at R-019:
ECHO-047 was first catalogued during the initial survey of R-019 and remains the only anomaly formally classified at this site. The phenomenon continues to manifest at irregular intervals across the site and is subject to active monitoring by the Echo Research Division.
Collapse Evidence
Collapse Analysis
R-019 has been classified as an RCC-1 Silent Collapse. No evidence of environmental destruction, systemic failure, or catastrophic event has been identified. The reality appears to have ceased without a recoverable external cause.
The absence of biological remains, personal effects, and population-level evidence suggests the collapse may have occurred gradually or that the transition into The Unwritten was complete before any final observable state could be preserved. The presence of ECHO-047 is currently the only direct evidence that the reality once sustained life of any kind.
Lastlight Recording
Final State Record
A Lastlight recording was attempted during the third survey of R-019. The Lastlight Recorder captured environmental and structural data from the central urban zone over a period of approximately six hours.
The recording documents the static atmospheric conditions, the inoperative infrastructure, and a full bloom event captured in its entirety. This recording represents the most complete documentation of ECHO-047 — A Hollow Bloom currently held within The Archive.
No additional Lastlight recordings have been conducted at R-019. The site’s collapse appears complete and no further transition events are anticipated.
Notes
Archive Note — Records Management — L. Dray
R-019 was formally registered following the completion of the initial survey in Year 4, Cycle 2. The site remains one of the most visited post-collapse environments in the Initiative’s records due to the continued activity of ECHO-047. All photographic records from the initial survey have been archived. Physical sample collection from the bloom phenomenon has not been authorized pending further investigation.
Investigator Note — Lead Investigator D. Calloway, Reality Investigation Division
We have been back to R-019 six times now. It is the same every time. The same quiet. The same sky. The same blossoms appearing and dissolving as if nothing around them has changed. I think that is the part that stays with me. The blossoms do not know the world they came from is gone. They are still doing what they were always doing. They just have nowhere left to do it.
