The Unwritten

Concept Classification

Subject: Post-Collapse Reality State Document Authority: ALR Initiative Primary Researchers: Echo Research Division

Description

The Unwritten is the state a reality enters after it ceases to continue.

When a reality collapses, its history, environments, and inhabitants no longer progress through time. The world effectively becomes a finished narrative rather than an active reality. The remnants of these collapsed realities exist in a condition known as The Unwritten.

Nature of the Unwritten

Reality State

Realities that become Unwritten no longer function as living worlds. Time no longer progresses normally, and the systems that once sustained the reality have already failed.

In many cases, the environment appears frozen in the final moment before collapse. Despite this, remnants of the collapsed reality may still remain observable. These remnants are often documented as ECHOES.

Formation

Collapse Transition

A reality becomes part of the Unwritten after undergoing a collapse event classified using the Reality Collapse Classification (RCC) system.

During this process, the structures that allow the reality to continue — physical, environmental, or conceptual — break down. Once the collapse is complete, the reality is no longer considered an active world. It becomes part of the Unwritten.

Investigation

Investigation Operations

The ALR Initiative investigates realities that have entered the Unwritten in order to document their final state.

Investigations typically involve the use of several classification systems, including:

These systems allow personnel to record the structure and condition of collapsed realities.

Echo Formation

Anomalous Remnants

Although a reality may have become Unwritten, fragments of its existence can persist as anomalies. These anomalies are documented as E.C.H.O. objects.

Echo records are documented separately using:

Role of the Archive

Preservation Directive

Records gathered during investigations are preserved within The Archive. Through this process, the ALR Initiative fulfills its central mission:

Archive Lost Realities.

Even when a reality becomes part of the Unwritten, its existence is not completely erased as long as its records remain preserved.
